During the 52nd All India Police Duty Meet – 2008 hosted by the Karnataka Police at Bangalore from January 3 to 10, 2009, the judges of the dog competition suggested a few amendments in the existing rules for the conduct of the competition. The Central Coordinating Committee, All India Police Duty has accepted some of the suggestions which would be incorporated in the existing rules and would come into force with effect from 53rd All India Police Duty Meet – 2009.
- GENERAL RULES
All the dogs participating in the competition should have been vaccinated against various fatal communicable diseases at least 21 days prior to the competition. - MARKING SYSTEM
- Total marks of Ground Search increased from 50 to 75.
- Total marks in Building Search increased from 50 to 75.
- Total marks in Human Body Search reduced from 75 to 50.
- CONDUCT OF TEST FOR TRACKERS
The track lay should not be less than 1 km. and while laying the track, judge/judges should consider the topography and soil conditions of that area. Accordingly, curves and cross tracking should be decided in advance and should not be fixed in numbers. - NARCOTICS AND EXPLOSIVE
- During the vehicle search event for explosive, there should be at least two articles for search.
- During explosive search, dog should always lead the handler and move forward. Moreover, all the search exercise should be done in either without/free leash or if the dog is performing with leash, the leash should be loose and handler should remain at least 3-4 feet behind the dog so that dog could perform freely.
- Deduction of marks should be applicable in both the least i.e. the explosive and narcotics search events extra command.
- Keeping in view severity and gravity of explosion these days, if dog and its handler enter the vehicle before cleaning it from outside, penalty should be 50%of marks allotted for vehicle search instead of five marks only.
